Before and After Clean Volt™: Real Results from a Live 3 Phase System

Ever wondered what real world surge protection in a heavy duty three phase electrical system can do for you? The numbers from this case study speak for themselves. Below is a walkthrough of the dramatic transformation recorded at a facility before and after installing Clean Volt™, showing how much cleaner and more stable the power became and what that means for reliability and cost savings.

What We Tested and Why It Matters

This study focused on a 3 phase 120/208 V system at Jenner Hutterite Colony.

Before Clean Volt, a power analyzer recorded more than 38,000 triggered events over four days, showing repeated electrical anomalies. Voltage on the neutral line, which should sit between 0 and 2 V, was spiking around 30 V. None of the three phases delivered a stable 120 V. Peak to peak voltage climbed past 200 V. Total harmonic distortion was nearly 14 V, and the overall power factor was very low.

In simple terms, the system was noisy and unstable. This is a serious problem if you rely on sensitive electronics, motors or control boards.

Why does this matter? Because unsteady voltage, harmonic distortion and neutral spikes quietly damage equipment over time. This leads to premature failures, unexpected downtime and costly repairs. In this case the customer was replacing a $1400 circuit board every 2 months for a 5 year period leading up to the deployment of Clean Volt.

What Changed After Clean Volt and the Real Impact

Around 3 months after installing Clean Volt, with no other changes made to the electrical system, the same site was retested over seven days. The results were dramatic.

The power analyzer logged only 158 triggered events, a reduction of more than 99 percent, even though it monitored the system for longer.

All three phases stabilized at the expected 120 V. Peak to peak voltage dropped to a steady 170 V, right where it should be.

Total harmonic distortion dropped by almost 10 V and the power factor improved significantly.

The sine wave became smoother and much closer to ideal, meaning the facility received cleaner, more reliable power.

The electrician on site reported that since the upgrade, expensive control boards and lighting components stopped failing early. This translated into significant long term cost savings from reduced repairs and avoided replacements. From 2016 to 2025 the customer claimed they have not yet replaced one circuit board making their ROI on Clean Volt 4 months based on these circuit board costs alone.

Why This Kind of Surge Protection Matters Even When Things Seem Fine

It is easy to assume that if your lights work and your machinery turns on, your power must be good enough. The Jenner Hutterite Colony example shows that appearances can be misleading.

Voltage instability, harmonic distortion and neutral line noise may not trip breakers, but they quietly stress electrical components and shorten their lifespan.

Over time, this hidden stress adds up. Control boards burn out, motors fail, lighting circuits degrade and maintenance budgets increase.

Clean Volt helps you stabilize power quality and reduce this hidden wear at the source instead of reacting to sudden failures.

What This Means for You

If you rely on sensitive equipment of any kind, whether electronics, lighting, motors or automation, consider the following:

A chaotic electrical supply can damage equipment even if nothing visibly goes wrong.

Investing in a system that improves power quality and protects against all kinds of surges can significantly reduce maintenance and replacement costs.

Clean, stable power improves reliability, prevents downtime and improves the electrical environment so your equipment reaches intended life cycle.

At Jenner Hutterite Colony, Clean Volt proved to be more than an electrical upgrade. It became a cost saving investment. If you want to see results like this contact us and we will connect you with a licensed dealer near you!
